We strongly recommend that all students arrive on time.   When a student is absent or late, research indicates they are less likely to adjust to school, are less successful in their learning, experience stress or anxiety and find it harder to adjust to the social aspect of school.  Students arriving on time have an easier transition to the classroom and are aware of the agenda for the day.  Teaching starts as soon as the bell rings and students who arrive late miss out on optimal learning time.  Routines and key concepts in Language Arts and Numeracy are taught in that optimal learning time.  Arriving late also disrupts the learning of the students and the teaching that has begun. Developing good habits in elementary school, with consistent attendance and punctuality, goes a long way to establish healthy habits for life.
